The news of Mamie Guttu’s passing has shattered the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing and loving her. The void left by her absence is immeasurable, a void that cannot be filled. Mamie Guttu, born on September 22, 1994, in Monrovia, Liberia, brought joy and love to the lives of her adoring parents, George Dakoi and Miatta Dagoseh. She was a devoted mother to her precious daughter Siatta Simone Woodson and a beloved sister to Amie, Susan, and Georgiana Dakorson. The bond she shared with her siblings was unbreakable, and they find solace in their memories of her.
Those fortunate enough to have crossed paths with Mamie Guttu will forever treasure her infectious laughter, her kindness, her compassionate heart, and her angelic voice. She possessed a unique ability to make everyone feel valued and loved, leaving an indelible mark on their lives.
During her time at Winnetonka High School, Mamie Guttu showcased her exceptional talent as one of the top track athletes, earning the admiration and respect of her teammates and coaches. Her athletic journey continued at Neosho Community College, where her dedication and determination shone through. Mamie Guttu’s educational path led her to graduate from UMKC with a bachelor's degree in Health Science and a minor in Chemistry, a testament to her hard work and perseverance.
Mamie Guttu’s greatest source of pride and accomplishment was undoubtedly Siatta
It was clear that Mamie poured her heart and soul into ensuring that Siatta had every opportunity to flourish and thrive. She wholeheartedly believed in Siatta's potential and worked tirelessly, day after day, to guide and nurture her growth. Mamie Guttu’s love for Siatta knew no bounds, and her unwavering support and encouragement undoubtedly shaped the remarkable individual Siatta has become and will continue to become. Mamie’s legacy will forever be intertwined with Siatta's journey.
Reflecting on Mamie's passing, we understand the immense pain and grief accompanying such a loss. Yet, amid this sorrow, we hold onto the beautiful memories of her infectious laughter, tremendous kindness, and unwavering love. May her soul find everlasting peace, and may her memory continue to inspire and deeply touch the lives of all those who were fortunate enough to have known her.
A wakekeeping/visitation will occur Friday, September 8, 2023, from 6 - 9 PM at House of God Community Church, (6101 N Topping Ave., Kansas City, MO 64119). A Celebration of Life will be Saturday, September 9, 2023, from 10 - 12 PM, at White Chapel Funeral Home (6600 NE Antioch Rd., Gladstone, MO 64119) with a committal service following in White Chapel Cemetery.
