There's so much to say about my Gramps! One of the best men I ever knew! The love he had for my Grandma was the kind of love a girl always dreams about! One of the best memories I have is when before Gramps would go to work...him and Grandma would stand in the doorway and "hen peck kiss" for like 10 minutes! Same when he came home! Memories of being at their farm and Grandpa naming all the cows...softball games at get togethers with cow patties as bases and him pushing us on the tire swing and  into  the pond! Their 25th anniversary party and just watching them dance the night away with love and laughter! I went into premature labor with my son and got lifeflighted to KU hospital and the first face I saw was Gramps and I knew everything would be OK! Watching his homemade videos on our wall at Christmas...priceless!!! He was a man with a heart and so much love for us!!! What this man has been to our family for the last 50+years has been amazing!!! Couldn't ask for more! It was hard going to his funeral today with NO mention of us...but we...as a family know that he loved us...we were there...and we have the memories!!! Something you can NEVER take away from us!!! We all love you Gramps!!!

Let me start by saying that Harold D. Craig was not just a WW II veteran in the Philippines or a 43 year millwright  who retired from General Mills, he was my "Gramps".  For as long as I can remember he has been in my life.  I pretty much grew up at his and Grandma's house and the memories i have as a young child will be cherished forever.  From the trips back and forth to the farm mostly to keep him awake because I was a jabberbox  to getting to ride on the top of hay bales he was getting to getting to finally drive the truck in the hayfield.  When I was 16 and could drive I always went down to see Grandma and Gramps and even brought my prom date with me to their house so he could see me all dressed up.  He always told me just what he thought of all of my boyfriends, even got one a job at the mill.  He never held back what was on his mind and you always knew where you stood with Gramps and I guess it has rubbed off on me a little.  I remember him showing reel movies on the refrigerator and him standing in front of me at my wedding with that bright light bar on the camera taking movies.  He was there to hold both of my babies when they were born and instantly fell in love with both. He nicknamed my daughter Suzy A and my son was always and still was until he passed away Little Wilson.  I remember all the holidays spent either at their house, the farm or at my  mom's house and even after Grandma passed he would still come to be with us.  I moved to Kentucky 7 years ago and made it a high priority to go see my Gramps every time I came to Kansas City to visit and he was always so glad to see me and head about my busy life and how the kids were doing.  Recently I moved back to Missouri and he was the 1st person I wanted to see and I planned a surprise 95th Birthday and 12 of my family were able to make it and he was so surprised! I loved my Gramps and will hold him close in my heart forever.

Well I called this man peepaw! When I was a kid we would go to meemaw and peepaw's house often! Of course my brother and I always wanted to go because they had chickens, ducks, geese, and rabbits! Plus we knew when we were there peepaw would always roll out the fabulous spread of pops, squeeze its, candy, cookies, you name it and it was junk food, he had it. Not to mention he would take me out to do his chores with him. This was the most fun, until he would tell me to"get the eggs." Which meant stick your hand under that large hen and take the eggs she's hiding while she pecks your hand... I also loved feeding the ducks and the geese even though back then I remember them being as tall as me and man they could hisss! I enjoyed making mud pies, petting the rabbits, and swinging on this one swing peepaw made! I spent many nights there and watched him inhale many bowls of cereal the next morning, sometimes without taking a breathe.. I loved my time there with both of them and now that I think about it I spent just as much time with him as I did with her.. back then they were meemaw and peepaw. He lived a long and full life! We all just recently got together for his 95th birthday party and I haven't seen him that Happy in a long time! I believe God truly filled his heart with love and joy those last couple of years and especially on that day! I will see you later peepaw
