Harold Dean Oldham, Sr., 81, KCMO, went peacefully to his heavenly home surrounded by family on April 20, 2018. He was born in Smithville, AR and moved to KCMO in 1945. He graduated East High School in 1954 and enlisted in the U.S. Army where he served the rank of Sergeant until 1958. In 1964 he graduated from the KCMO Police Department Academy.
He worked at the Sheffield Police Station from completion of the academy until being reassigned to the newly formed Tactical Unit in 1966. He also worked in Internal Affairs and the Regional Training Academy before being assigned to the Polygraph Unit in 1977. He retired from KCPD on 11/15/92 as Section Chief of the Polygraph Unit.
Harold became a Christian in 1978 and was a member of Pleasant Valley Baptist Church. His hobbies were fishing and oil painting. He is preceded in death by his parents, Roy Edward Oldham and Gladys Jewell (Helms) Corrie and his sister Ruby Higginbotham. He is survived by his loving wife, Ella L. Oldham; son, Kristofer Ryan Oldham (Erica) of KCMO; son, Harold Dean Oldham, Jr. of St. Joseph, MO; daughter, Valerie Kay Gonzales of California; step-son Jeffrey William Weir (Marva) of KCMO; grandchildren, Brandon Weir (Tamara); Heather Weir, Sutton Oldham, and Hadley Oldham; sister, Sondra Rodgers (Herb) of Florida and sister, Fern "Marie" DeVerse (Ron) of South Carolina.
Visitation will be held at White Chapel Funeral Home, 6600 NE Antioch Rd., Gladstone, MO on Wednesday, April 25, 2018 from 6-8 PM. Funeral will be 11 AM, Thursday, April 26, 2018 at the funeral home.
