Born on September 18, 1980, to Jim and Suli Stevenson, Jane grew up in Kansas City and graduated from Winnetonka High School in 1999. She went on to attend Missouri State University before completing her degree at the University of Missouri–Kansas City. In 2018, Jane married the love of her life, James Nicholson, and together they made their home in Overland Park, Kansas, where they shared their lives with their two beloved cats, Mila and Macy. Jane was employed by the federal government as an Immigration Processor, a role in which she took great pride.
Jane will be remembered for her boundless heart and her unwavering willingness to help others. She had a natural gift with cats and was lovingly known as the family’s “cat whisperer.” A talented cook and a joyful presence in any room, Jane embraced life with warmth, humor, and generosity. Among her greatest joys was being an aunt; she cherished her nieces and nephew and lived by the motto, “What happens with Auntie Jane stays with Auntie Jane.”
Jane is survived by her parents, Suli and John; husband, James; her sisters, Maria and Elaine; her brother, Brian and his wife Nikki; her nieces, Madisyn, Ime, Nyta, and Caprice; and her nephew, Tasi—all of whom she loved deeply and unconditionally.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of the sixth floor at the University of Kansas Medical Center for their compassion, kindness, and care during Jane’s final days.
