

Jesse Lee ‘JR’ Reynolds, 82, passed away peacefully on October 2, 2023. Jesse was born to William Franklin Harrison Reynolds and Jennie Lee Shields on October 23rd, 1940, in Kansas City, Kansas. He joined the United States National Guard in 1955, then United States Navy and spent four years serving his country around the world on the USS Bon Homme Richard. After coming stateside, he stayed in Kansas City working for Goldblatt Tools until it’s close in 1997.
Jesse married Glinda Sampson, the love of his life, on December 2nd, 1974. They moved to Kansas City, Missouri in 1997 with their three children. His children remember him as a gentle and compassionate father who encouraged them to pursue their life’s passions and goals. He showed how to be a hardworking and loving father to his family. He was an active and devoted Scout Master for the Boy Scouts of America to Kaw District Troop 45, teaching young men the importance of brotherhood and community.
Jesse was an accomplished locksmith and often saved many from locked out cars. He owned his own business, B&K Lock for 22 years. He was a kind, generous and dedicated man, who loved the Kansas City Chiefs and had passion for his family, friends, his great navy stories and food. Jesse loved going out to new restaurants with Glinda and family. It’s it was nice out, Jesse was grilling!
He is preceded in death by his 11 brothers and sisters, his mother and father of Kansas City, Kansas. Jesse is remembered with love by his wife, Glinda; his three children and their spouses: Tambre & Josh Ross, Brandon & Jenny Reynolds, Kali & Kyle Bates, four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 12th, 2023, from 5:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the Newcomer's White Chapel Funeral Home (6600 NE Antioch Rd, Gladstone, MO 64119). A memorial service will be held immediately following from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the same location.
Military Honors and cemetery services will be held on Friday, October 13th at 9:00AM at Leavenworth National Cemetery (150 Muncie Rd, Leavenworth, KS 66048).
