

Joan was born on February 11, 1931, in Atchison, KS to William and Elizabeth Nass.
Joan graduated from Mount St. Scholastica Academy High School in 1948. She then completed her Nursing Diploma from St. Joseph Hospital School of Nursing. Joan worked as a RN, in the Operating Room at St. Joseph Hospital for over 40 years.
In the early 1950’s, she met Jack Dixon in Branson, MO and the two married on September 25, 1954. They had four children. While raising a family and working as a nurse, Joan was a dedicated parishioner of St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church.
Joan and Jack were active in Gladstone politics, loved to travel, and entertained their many friends. After Jack's passing in 2005, Joan became an active volunteer in our community: Crossroads Hospice, Strawberry Hill, KCI Airport, Kauffman for the Performing Arts, and St. Charles Borromeo Church. All the while, remaining strong and committed to her faith
Joan is preceded in death by her parents William and Elizabeth; sister Marjorie Kelly and the love of her life Jack.
Joan is survived by her children – Mike Dixon, his wife Kathy of Kansas City, MO. Jayne Dixon-Weber, her husband Larry of Boulder, CO. Tom Dixon, his wife Jennifer of Kansas City, MO. And Ann Dixon of Kansas City, MO. There are seven grandchildren, three step-grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, and four step-great grandchildren; as well as three nephews, and one niece.
The visitation will be held at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, 900 NE Shady Lane Drive, Kansas City, MO on August 21, 2025, at 11:00 AM, Mass at 12:00 PM, and reception to follow downstairs at St. Charles until 2:30 PM.
All are welcome to attend and celebrate Joan's extraordinary life.
The committal service will be held at White Chapel Funeral Home, 6600 NE Antioch Rd, Gladstone, MO 64119, from 3:00 pm to 3:30 pm.
