Mrs. JoAnn Devine {Tague}, 83 yrs old, died peacefully on July 9th, 2023. JoAnn was born on July 25th, 1939 in Kansas City, Kansas to Carl Robert “Bob” Tague and Josephine Monica Tague. JoAnn graduated from Argentine High School (class of 1957) where she was the Head Drum Majorette. She then attended Saint Mary’s University, the Sisters of Charity School of Nursing to become a Registered Nurse.
JoAnn married Pat Devine, a union electrician. After a long career in acute care nursing as head nurse at St. Mary’s Hospital in Kansas City Missouri, JoAnn helped start up a Medicare certified home health agency, in Kansas City, Kansas. Her journey continued as becoming a Board Member of Kansas Home Care Association and was a founding member of the Clay County Senior Services. She enjoyed music and playing the piano. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She was known for her determination, planning, and management skills, and was lovingly nick-named “the general” by close family. More so, she was well known for her generosity to help others and shared her passion while teaching others in the nursing community. A goal of hers was to reach out to other care givers of Alzheimer’s individuals, to which she wrote a book called, “A Journey with Dad”. Alongside JoAnn’s passion for healthcare, she was also a member of the Saint Charles Borromeo Parish in Gladstone, Missouri.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Pat Devine; son, Kevin Devine; mother and father, Josephine and Bob Tague.
JoAnn is survived by her sister, Jean Belcher; and her brother, Robert Tague. JoAnn’s late son Kevin Devine is survived by his son, Jameson Devine and daughter Lindsay Devine Kamon and husband Mike Kamon and their children Giuliana, Gabriela, and Alexandra. JoAnn is survived by her son Timothy and wife Ann Devine, and their sons, Adam and Erin, and daughter Megan.
The family would like to specifically thank her primary care doctor Dr. Gary A. Thompson MD, her hospice care team members from Harbor Hospice and her in-home care givers Debra and Jennifer from Home Instead for all their care and kindness.
