John Bernard Smith, 72, of Kansas City, MO, passed away with his family at his side, May 24, 2014. A Mass of Christian Burial will be 11am Thursday, May 29, 2014 at St. Charles Catholic Church; with visitation one hour prior to the Mass. John was preceded in death by his parents and brother, James Lindsey. Survivors include his loving wife of 9 years Robin Smith of the home; children, Rick Yeager (Annette), Danice Kolasa (John), Rowena Moreno (Francisco), Kristi Ellis and Justin Cole (Michelle); grandchildren; brothers, James “Jim” Geraci (Laura), Robert Lindsey (Shirley); 2 sisters, Lucinda Eleanor Miller (Paul), Frances Beatrice Anderson (Tony); and sister-in-law, Barbara Lindsey, wife of James Lindsey. Many nieces and nephews in Montana, Colorado, Missouri and Arizona. John was an avid hunter, fisherman, and all around outdoorsman, with a hint of McGyverism. No one had a greater love for Cadillacs and always owned one with great pride. He took pride in having a premier junkman, Willie, who could keep them running. Family and friends meant everything to him, as did Gypsy (dog) and Tinker (cat), who provided him hours of entertainment with their antics. John could be a pain one minute and sweet as pie the next, which never gave you a chance to get really upset at him. His word was his honor. He would do anything for anyone and never knew a stranger. He loved the Lord Jesus with all of his heart. He served as an altar boy growing up at his local Catholic Church.
