A life well-lived, a very good man that we loved dearly. Jose was born on October 18, 1934 in Ecuandureo, Michuoacan Mexico to Aurelio Espinoza and Guadalupe Ruiz Espinoza. Jose married Victoria Chavolla, his soul mate, on February 6, 1963. In 1962, Jose moved to the United States and made Wichita, KS his home. Jose worked for several major employers. After working for Cessna Aircraft as a painter, he worked for Bishop Carroll High School as a custodian until he fully retired at the age of 75. Jose dearly loved his wife. Over Jose and Victoria’s 57-year marriage, they welcomed 5 children into their home and Jose set about teaching them to live for the Lord, the value of hard work, morals, values, commitment to family, and most importantly he instilled the Catholic faith. Jose prayed for God’s healing and expressed his prayer’s intentions of being with Our Heavenly Father. So, while we may feel a terrible loss, we are comforted in the knowledge of where he resides today. His children remember him as a devoted and faithful husband, father, grandfather, brother, son, uncle. His love for his family was bigger than his life. He always put his family and others before himself. He was a strong leader who guided and protected his family as he strived to follow the life of St. Joseph. Jose is remembered by his family as a protector, who encouraged his children to pursue their dreams by providing them confidence to become the adults they are today. He will always be remembered by his children as a loving, caring, kind, gentle, and patient father.
Jose enjoyed spending time with his wife, children, and grandchildren, attending mass, gardening, cooking, and playing board games. He was a generous man who loved serving others and who was passionate about his Catholic faith. He was a dedicated member of St. Jude Catholic Church, Wichita, Kansas, before relocating to Kansas City, Missouri.
