Kathy Scott

Jessica Kathleen “Kathy” Scott died peacefully in her home on January 16, 2017 in Gladstone, MO at the age of 66. Kathy is survived by her mother Phyllis Bryant; husband of 30 years, Daniel Scott; son, Scott Burge of Gladstone, MO; daughters, Alyssa Carpenter of Noble, OK, and Brandelein Stefonek of Las Vegas, NV; sister, Sally Scott, and nephew, Zach Newton of Springfield, MO; and brothers, Patrick Scott of Wisner, LA and Hudson Scott of Denver, CO. She is preceded in death by her father, Robert “Bob” Scott and brother, Rob Scott of Wisner, LA. Kathy was born on August 30, 1950 in Monroe, LA to Phyllis Bryant and Robert Scott. She graduated from Central High School in 1968. She married Daniel Scott, 1986. After moving to Kansas City, MO, Kathy began working for the Dan Sturdevant Law office where she worked for over 25 years. She considered Dan and Mary Lee part of her family. Her children remember her as a loving mother, the rock of the family, and a strong woman who encouraged them to pursue their goals. Her greatest joys have been her grandchildren, Courtney Jensen, Lisa Yost, Jonathan Stefonek, Brittany Burge, Brendan Jensen and Brett Stefonek, and her great grandchildren, Abby Yost, Christopher Shockney, Maddy Gonzalez and Chase Yost. Funeral Services will be at 2pm, Saturday, January 21, 2017 at White Chapel Funeral Home, Gladstone, MO, with visitation one hour prior. A reception to follow at Gladstone Seventh Day Adventist Church. Pastor Mike Fenton will officiate the ceremony. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Kathy’s life.
