Kenneth "Ken" Lee Hughes

Ken was born on November 28, 1940 in Maryville, MO to parents Lucille Gillespie and Dale Hughes. He graduated from NWMSU in 1962 with a degree in Business/Agriculture. After college, he enlisted and served in the US Army. Ken worked for Montgomery Ward in Kansas City and Chicago retiring after 27 years of service. He married Betty Leeper in 1963 and they had two children, Tod and Kendra. His greatest pride were his three grandchildren, Kaity, Hunter, and Jenna. Ken took great pleasure in his 1976 MGB and loved taking his grandchildren for rides. He was an avid NASCAR and St. Louis Cardinal fan. He was a member of the American Legion post, volunteering as treasurer and also a member/volunteer of King of Kings Lutheran Church.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Dale and Lucille, and his wife’s parents, Marvin and Roberta Leeper.

Ken is survived by his loving wife, Betty of 58 years of marriage, his son Tod (wife Susan and grandson Hunter) of Lees Summit, daughter Kendra (her husband Ralph) of Riverside, and two granddaughters, Kaity and Jenna Patchin.

Per Ken’s wishes, there will be no formal service and a private burial will be at a later date in Graham, MO.
