

She was born November 1, 1952, in Rensselaer, Indiana to Norbert J. and Helen L. (Styck) Brown. Laura was a 1970 graduate of North Kansas City High School.
On November 7, 1970, she married her soul mate, Robert Lumsden, shortly after marriage she traveled with Bob to Germany while he served in the US Army.
Laura retired from Maple Valley State School as a Teachers-Aid where she was extremely devoted to her students. She was devoted to her extensive family and to her husband, Bob. Together they renovated a century old home or you could find them both out fishing.
Laura loved to be in her garden or working on her yard. She found a happy place being in nature - walking, sitting and just taking it all in. She loved her travel trips with family going to places like Florida and Puerto Rico.
Laura was an animal person especially her many dogs or feeding the squirrels at home. She was a true patriot loving her country and was always willing to help others.
Laura was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Lumsden; her parents; sister, Cherie Cleveland Smith; brother-in laws, Wayne Cleveland, Don Smith, Richard Lumsden, Earl Lumsden; and a niece, Elle Newtson.
Survivors include her sisters, Francie McDonald and Betty (Pedro) Santiago; sisters-in-law, Dena Lumsden and Marilyn Case; nieces and nephews, Loretta (Kent) Holland, Billie (Curt) Holland, Shannon Lumsden, Adrienne Lumsden, Sunni Kerns, Michael (Kera) Cleveland, Michelle Cleveland, Bret (Sara) Cleveland, Stephanie Forcier, Lindsey Smith, Alan Newtson, Jeanie (Nicole) Santiago, and Christopher Santiago; twenty three great and twenty seven great-great nieces and nephews.
The family extends their deepest gratitude to a truly dear friend, Kim Porter, whose exceptional generosity has been a profound comfort during this time.
