Leta N. Rose

Leta was born on February 6th, 1922, in Nottinghill, Missouri to Claud and Amy (Small) Gaulding. She graduated from Thornfield High School in 1940, and married the love of her life, George A. Rose, on January 24th, 1942. They had two children, Sharon Kay and George “Randy”. Leta knew early on she wanted to teach and obtained a teacher’s certificate and taught first through eighth grade in a one room school house in Ozark County, Missouri. She went on and pursued her Bachelor of Arts degree graduating from Southwest Missouri State College, Springfield, Missouri in 1961. Her 30 year career culminated with her last 18 years in the Park Hill School District teaching 3rd grade at Chinn Elementary.

Leta and George enjoyed square dancing with a local club called Pistols and Petticoats. They made life long friends traveled many states while they circled left, do si do’d, and promenaded.

Leta was a faithful follower of the Lord Jesus Christ participating in many church organizations throughout her life. She was a 50+ year member of the Order of the Eastern Star and served as Worthy Grand Matron in Gainesville, Missouri. Leta was a golden sister of 52 years with Alpha Delta Kappa honorary sorority and enjoyed and valued her relationships and activities with others in the education field.

Preceded in death by her parents, Claud and Amy, her husband, George, her daughter, Sharon Sathre and grandson, Justin Rose, and her sisters, Lena Wallace, Mary Owens and Ellen Dye.

She is survived by her son, George “Randy” (Kathy), Riverside, Mo., her grandchildren, Craig Rose (Jayne), Olathe, Ks., Gina Rose Cork (Bryan), Riverside, Mo., Brandon Rose (Valerie), Merriam, Ks.; her great grandchildren Adam Cork (Sabrina), Samantha Cork, Nathan Cork, Mia and Nash Turner; and great great grandchildren Gabriel and Felicity Cork; her sister, Mona Decker, Ava, Mo., and brother-in-law, Jim Rose (Pat), Independence, Mo., and many, many nieces and nephews.

Services will be held Wednesday, January 19th, 2022, at Newcomer’s White Chapel, 6600 NE Antioch Road, Gladstone, Mo 64119. Visitation will be from 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm and a celebration of life service will immediately follow at 3:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to NorthCare Hospice House, NKC Hospital, or Jill’s Hope, 6400 N London Dr., KC, Mo. 64151.
