

He was born September 29, 1951, in Kansas City, Missouri, the son of Lloyd Eugene and Letitia (Martinez) Shelton. Mike graduated from Oak Park High School in 1970 with the Class of 1970.
He was employed by the City of Riverside in many capacities-Police officer, Fire Fighter, Assistant Fire Chief and lastly Emergency Manager before retiring in 2017. He also worked security at Weatherby Lake at their community center from time to time.
He was proud of being involved with the many organizations including The Shriners and he became an Eagle Scout and was very passionate about his scouting years-which he shared with his grandson, Ben. He was also very passionate about flying. He worked at the Downtown Airport part time for a bit. He also loved playing a game where he would fly all over the world. He made so many friends through the years and cherished those relationships.
He was preceded in death by his parents Lloyd and Letitia Shelton.
Mike is survived by his wife, LeAnn Shelton, whom he met in January of 2008, they married in October of 2009. They had a wonderful life together. They loved traveling and spending time at Ft. Myers Beach, Florida. Mike is survived by his children, Catherine Crowe and David Shelton. His stepdaughters, Christine Bartlett (David) and Amy Hart. Four grandchildren, Elyse Hart, Emily Hart, Ben Bartlett and Maddie Bartlett. He is also survived by sisters, Pat Shelton, Debra Scott (Tom), and his brother, John Shelton, a niece, nephew and great niece.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Tuesday, January 27, 2026, at 11:00 AM, at White Chapel Funeral Home, 6600 NE Antioch Road, Gladstone, Missouri, with internment following in the White Chapel Cemetery.
