Louis Clifford Burris, 87, passed away peacefully, on June 2, 2014, surrounded by his loving family. “Cliff” was born in Keytesville, Missouri, June 1926, to Gordon and Alice Burris, whom have preceded him in death. He married Barbara (Harper) Burris of Bangs, Texas in 1950. Barbara preceded Cliff in death January 1989. He is survived by his sons, Michael Burris (wife Mellaine) their children, Shaina, Kellen and Montana and Rodney Burris (wife Ann) their children, Angelica (husband Bob Minshull) and Zachary (fiancé Zayle). Cliff is also survived by Ruby Hoppe, Ruth Howard, Delores Berry (sisters) and James Craig (brother). Shirley Wrench (sister) preceded Cliff in death 1980. Cliff served honorably in the Navy from 1944 to 1946. He worked for Union Pacific and retired from there in 1984. He was a member of the American Legion Post #626, at one time serving as Commander. Cliff and Barbara, were baptized into The Church of JESUS CHRIST of Latter-Day Saints, Liberty Stake, in 1962. He was a faithful member serving in many callings all throughout his life. One of his callings was to drive a truck delivering food and supplies to areas in Missouri, Nebraska, and Kansas for those in need. People loved him, because of his humbleness and kindness. He knew what it was like to grow up with less. Cliff made you feel special, no matter what your circumstances were. Despite a humble upbringing, Cliff was a wonderful Son, Brother, Husband, Father, Uncle and friend. But he was always known as “Grandpa” not only to his grandchildren, but to many other children. He was a friend to the friendless and a great neighbor to all. We will miss him terribly, but know that he is forever in our hearts and we will one day see his bright eyes and bright smile again. Visitation will be 6-8pm Sunday, June 8, 2014 at White Chapel Funeral Home 6600 NE Antioch Road, Gladstone, MO 64119 Funeral service will be 10am Monday, June 9, 2014 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 5600 Jackson Ave, Kansas City, MO 64130 In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The American Legion Post 626, American Cancer Society or Wounded Warriors.
