He was born in Cedar Rapids, IA to Steven & Diane Holthaus in 1971. Lynn graduated from St. Pius High School, and received an associate’s degree from TAD Technical School. Working for many years in the design/drafting field at numerous businesses, he finished his career working in the engineering department at IQS.
He was an honored member of Platte Woods United Methodist Church. He was a part of the PWUMC technical team, and he was the “go to” guy for lighting of the worship services, and special programs. He participated in a mission trip to Mozambique, Africa in 2016, and he was always willing to lend a helping hand for any project at the church that needed to be done.
Lynn devoted a great deal of his time to the Boy Scouts and was a member of the Tribe of Mic-O-Say. His dedication to the program made him a mentor to many scouts, and a cherished member of his entire scout family.
He had an adventurous soul and a passion for helping others. He loved the outdoors, the mountains, and a huge love for sports, especially football. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who knew him.
He is survived by his parents, Steve and Diane; daughter, Brittany (William); granddaughter, Leia; sister, Amy (Kevin); nephews, JD & Jesse; nieces, Abigail & Skylynn; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by both of his maternal & paternal grandparents.
A visitation is scheduled from 10 am to 12 pm on Saturday, August 28th at Platte Woods United Methodist Church. Funeral services will follow the visitation. (In memory of Lynn and his love of the Chiefs we encourage everyone to wear their favorite Chiefs T-Shirt/Red Attire.)
The family prefers that in lieu of flowers that donations are made in Lynn’s name to one of his favorite organizations. Donation envelopes will be available at the church during the visitation.
