Growing up in Dowagiac proved to be the beginning of an extraordinary life that would impact many lives. He served as an Acolyte to the Bishop of Michigan in the local Episcopal Church where his family were members. As a youth, he learned about hard work with his father in the logging business, farming, and raising Hackney Ponies. He played football in high school, could fix anything broken and was admired as a true friend.
After moving from his hometown, Marsh became the top Salesman for Rich-Con Steel Supply Company. He was an active member of the Jaycees Civic Organization. An opportunity presented itself for Marshall to move into the petroleum industry with Skelly Oil when he went into the Full Service Station Business on State Avenue in Kansas City, Kansas for 32 years. To fulfill another dream, he moved to Indiana with his wife and children to become the President and CEO of Rensselaer Ford Tractor and Implement Dealership. From there he returned back to Kansas City re-engaging with Skelly Oil Company. Shortly thereafter, he purchased his Conoco Full Service, Service Station at 77th and Parallel Parkway where the coffee pot was always on and friendly fellowship was enjoyed along with the finest mechanical service. After leaving the service station industry, he spent five years working alongside his son in Todd's manufacturer's rep business in the furniture industry.
His love for people and serving, reached far beyond the workweek. He was a member of The Wyandotte County Sheriff's Posse Mounted Patrol. He worked tirelessly in the M2W2 Prison Ministry Outreach Program. Marshall sponsored multiple members of Alcoholics Anonymous with 48 years of personal sobriety. He was a member of the Kansas City Kansas School Board, Charter President of Wyandotte West Kiwanis and never missed an opportunity to assist another to meet a need.
Throughout his life, he was a member of Palestine Christian Church and Wyandotte County Christian Church where he served as a deacon. He also became Chairman of the Board at White Church Christian Church. He was willing to assist and serve others continually.
He loved boating, horses, being with family and friends, playing Gin-Rummy and Bridge. He was devoted to his wife and children.
In semi-retirement, he worked hours at The Fiddly Fig Florist serving the public with friendly floral deliveries.
His family was everything to him to the end, speaking each one by name until his last moments. He leaves "A Legacy of Love" that we cherish within our hearts and Praise God for!
