Mary Jo Hopkins would like to let you know that her work here is done. She received a call from our Lord in Heaven on February 12, 2017, that it was time to come home. It was an offer she couldn’t refuse! She left detailed instructions for her children: John, Janet and Debbie as well as her son-in-law, Ted and grandchildren; Elizabeth, Mary and John Cecil to celebrate her life here, which has now been completed. Low adherence to this instruction will not be tolerated. Her life’s accomplishments included: Graduating from St. Teresa’s Academy with honors; Navigating a very successful marriage to her husband, Cecil, whom she joins in Heaven, which produced 3 wonderful children and 3 grandchildren. Mary Jo’s passions were mostly along the lines of artistic endeavors: Writing; Decorating and Cooking. Though, current events and reading were always on the forefront as well as sports such as the Kansas City Chiefs whom she traveled with on many occasions. Traveling was also a great joy as she ventured throughout Europe and many other countries. She never met a stranger and had a kind word for everyone. In lieu of flowers donations are suggested: The Humane Society of the United States and/or St. Teresa’s Academy: In Memory of Mary Jo (Mathews) Hopkins: Attn: Barbara Muehlebach Cusick Director of Development; St. Teresa's Academy 5600 Main Street, KCMO 64113. The Rosary will begin at 10:30 AM Saturday Feb. 25, 2017 at Redemptorist Catholic Church (3333 Broadway, Kansas City, MO 64111); Mass of Catholic Burial to follow at 11 AM. Entombment at White Chapel Memorial Gardens following Mass.
