

He was born in Portales NM in 1953 to Bob and Dorothy Montague. He graduated in 1976 from Morningside College with a degree in Business. He then moved to Kansas City, MO and worked in the medical field for 10 years with Abbott and Quinten Laboratories. He then opened and operated a successful pizza restaurant for several years before starting his own real estate business and continued serving the Kansas City area with beautiful locations and housing for many families. Mike loved interacting with all his clients, and many became close friends.
Mike's family moved to Creston, IA when he was 3 years old and spent his remaining school years developing many interests and making many friends. Mike enjoyed keeping these relationships on various social media sites like Facebook and Instagram. He earned his Eagle Scout badge as a teenager and was the captain of the football team for Morningside College.
Mike was kind, compassionate, outgoing, and very friendly, and he never met a stranger who didn't become a close friend. He loved the outdoors, sports of all kinds, food, and meeting new people. Those who knew him best knew he had a passion for politics and always enjoyed a lively conversation concerning the nation's issues.
Mike lived a life marked by integrity, humor, compassion, and dedication. His presence made the world brighter, and his memory will remain a lasting gift to those who loved him. He shared a lifelong bond with his twin brother, Pat, a connection that remained one of the most special relationships of his life.
Mike was an active and dedicated member of Saint Andrew’s Catholic Church of Kansas City and was a friend to all.
Mike is preceded in death of his parents Bob and Dorothy Montague of Creston IA and a niece, Ashly Montague, daughter of Pat and Pam Montague.
He is survived by his brothers Steve (wife Carol), of Kansas City MO, his twin brother, Pat (wife Pam) of Dallas TX and Dan (wife Kristi) of Marion IA. He is also survived by eight nieces and nephews, and their children.
Funeral services will be held Monday March 16th at Saint Therese Catholic Church of Kansas City 7207 NW Hwy. 9, KCMO. Rosary at 10 a.m., Visitation 10:30 -11:30 a.m., Funeral Mass at 11:30 am. The committal will follow at 2:30pm at White Chapel Memorial Gardens, 6600 N. Antioch Rd., Gladstone.

The Montague family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and staff of St. Luke’s Downtown Hospital and the caregivers of North KC Hospital for their care and dedication to Mike during his stay with them.
Mike will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who knew him.
