What can be said about a man who was so much to so many. A humble and loving man that never complained and would do anything for his family. To his wife, he was the best friend and companion. To his children he was an example of unconditional love and loving father. To his friends he was faithful and had a good time.
Mike is survived by his children, Michael and Maria Hiles, and his grandson Paul Swartz, his sisters, Marilyn Van Boeing and Wendy Burnett, a brother Mark Hiles, many nephews and nieces, and his wife Babette Marie Aines Hiles.
Mike was born in Kansas City, MO. and grew up in Northeast Kansas City. He attended Henry Clay Grade School and Northeast High School. He was married to Babette in 1972. He was in the army early on in his adult life, stationed at Fort Riley in Kanas as a Military Policeman, and Bamberg Germany with the 82nd Engineers. When his tour was finished, he was hired by NKC first with Waste Water and in 2000 became the Superintendent of Utilities at the Water Department until a mandatory retirement. He enjoyed a full life. He loved motorcycles and raced motocross in his younger days. He enjoyed camping and hunting and was an excellent guitar player.
