Nancy, the only child of James and Cuma (Lay) Shull, was born near Hamilton, MO September 27, 1936. She attended school in Hamilton and graduated from J.C. Penney High School in 1954. After high school, Nancy attended business school in Omaha, NE, then worked in Kansas City, MO before joining the Air Force. While in the Air Force, she met and married Ralph H. Wells in San Antonio, TX. Nancy and Ralph settled in Kansas City North in the early 1960s. She later attended and graduated from William Jewell College.
Nancy was an active member of St. Luke’s Presbyterian/JOY Church (now GlenHaven Church) since the early 1960s where she participated in various committees and activities over the years. In the early 1970’s, while working for Townsend Communications, Nancy suffered a stroke that left her permanently disabled. Yet through sheer grit, determination, and with good sense of humor she remained fiercely independent. Nancy was a generous and thoughtful soul whose keen intellect and sharp wit made her a pleasure to be around.
Nancy was preceded in death by her parents, husband and two infant children, Philip Alan and Audrey Lynn. She is survived by nephews Cal Huffaker and Ralph Huffaker; cousins Dale Kinne, Barbara Pierce, Mona Brown, Tom Clayton, Dean Kinne and Lora Albrecht; and some very dear friends who were always there for her.
Her family and friends are grateful for the loving care and compassion shown to Nancy by the staff of Liberty Health & Wellness over the past three months, and more recently by the caring team at Generations Hospice.
