Nick was the loving father of Sarah, Dylan, and Hunter. He was the brother of Todd Morris and is also survived by three nieces, as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
Nick was a thoughtful, caring, and big-hearted person who lived with quiet generosity. He didn’t have much in material terms, but he would give his last dollar to someone in need without hesitation. His kindness was sincere, unassuming, and deeply felt by those who truly knew him.
From an early age, Nick was an avid tinkerer. Whether working on bikes, cars, motorcycles, or carpentry projects, he found joy in figuring out how things worked and how to make them “better”—often with whatever materials happened to be nearby. He also expressed himself through drawing and art, using creativity as another way to communicate, reflect, and make sense of the world around him. His artistic side complemented his hands-on nature—thoughtful, curious, and deeply personal. Nick also had a love for animals, especially dogs, drawn to their loyalty, companionship, and the joy they brought into his life.
Nick grew up in Michigan, where many of his happiest memories were made. He loved fishing and tubing on Grandpa’s lake, riding bikes for hours on end, and skateboarding—always practicing the next trick and pushing himself to improve. He treasured family beach vacations to Florida, trips to amusement parks, camping adventures up north, and unforgettable birthday celebrations at motocross and monster truck pulls at the Pontiac Silverdome. He also had a knack for gathering “found” things (though they weren’t always lost—his brother and parents simply couldn’t find them anymore) and turning them into forts in the woods, creating entire worlds fueled by imagination and determination.
More than ten years ago, Nick moved to Kansas City, which became his home. There, he built a community of friends who loved, supported, and cared deeply for him. Those friendships meant a great deal to Nick, and he was grateful for the connection, loyalty, and acceptance they brought into his life.
Nick more than anything else loved his three kid’s and his family and will be remembered for his generous heart, his resourcefulness, his love of building and fixing, and the quiet way he showed up for others. His presence, humor, and kindness will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
A Celebration of Life gathering will be held by the family in Michigan in the spring-early summer.
