He was born August 9, 1932, in Tuscumbia, Missouri, the son of Preston and Sara (Workman) Duncan. Oliver worked at The International Shoe Factory in Eldon, Missouri.
Oliver joined the Navy June 30, 1952. He served his country on an aircraft carrier in Korea until he was Honorably discharged June 26, 1956. He then went to work for General Dynamics in San Diego until Missouri called him back to roost.
Oliver married Donna Deane on May 5, 1956, in Yuma, Arizona. At this time they both ran the roads of California in a 1956 Corvette, Red with White Spoons, and were a part of the San Diego Corvette Club. The Duncan’s welcomed two children into their home and moved from San Diego, California to Kansas City, Missouri where Oliver took a job with TWA as an airline mechanic. He was from a generation that would fix what he had, with what he had. He has uses for glue that you would never think of, and could tie a knot in any type of rope you could imagine. He loved working on old cars in his garage, especially old Chevelles.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Preston and Sara Duncan; his wife, Donna Duncan; and siblings, Mildred, Robert, Emma, Larry, Donald, and Gary.
Oliver is survived by his children, Gina Marie Duncan and Mark and Janelle Duncan; as well as his grandchildren, Alyssa and Tyler Duncan. He is also survived by three brothers, James, Parnell, and Darryl. He has so many nieces and nephews that he loved, as well as sister-in-laws that there are too many to list.
A visitation for Oliver will be held Sunday, April 2, 2023 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Newcomer's White Chapel Funeral Home, 6600 NE Antioch Rd, followed by a funeral service from 1:00 PM to 1:30 PM.
