

Pat was born on September 13, 1930 in Childs, Kansas to Thelma Padgett and Haskell William (Jack) Polley. Pat prepared for her long career in social work with a Bachelor of Arts Degree (Social Work) at the University of Kansas and a Master’s Degree (Social Work) from Washburn University (Topeka, Kansas).
Pat moved from Kansas to California in the 1960’s to continue her career in social work. Pat told stories of living in San Fransisco during the ‘Summer of Love.’ Pat retired from a long career with the Veterans Administration as the Director of Social Services at the VA in Reno, Nevada. Pat lived on the west coast for over 50 years.
Pat was a reserve commissioned officer in the Army (Medical Service Corps) with a rank of First Lieutenant. Pat also served our heroes in her position at the VA by welcoming home our heroes the Vietnam War and providing them with the essential services.
Pat lived her life with passion. She would boldly speak her mind. She was a strong advocate for equality for women. She loved all animals and always provided a wonderful home for one or more dogs. Her last little dog Bijoux was `the smartest dog she had ever known.’
Pat was a varocious reader of mystery and intrigue novels. Pat loved classical music. She loved to travel and visited many countries. Pat loved to work in her garden. She would surprise her neighbors with gifts of fruits and vegtables left by their door.
Pat is proceeded in death by Marilyn McNeill, her loving partner of forty-two years.
Pat is survived by her sister Donna Wilson, brother Charles Polley (Roberta) nephews Michael Kennedy (Tracii Hooper-Clark), Stephen Kennedy (Kimberly) and nieces Elizabeth Polley and Kenzie Polley.
Pat is also survived by her family in California. Frank and Michele Fagundes, nieces Annie Fagundes, Molly (Dominico) Johnston and Meggie (Mike) Gilbert. In addition, Pat was blessed with twelve great nieces and nephews, 1 great great niece and 1 great great nephew.
The family would like to thank the staff and care givers at Oxford Grand at Shoal Creek and the nurses and other care givers from home health and hospice from the Encompass Medical Group for the loving care provided to Pat.
