She was born September 17, 1943, in Excelsior Springs, MO, the daughter of Cornelius Dearborn and Ruth Alice (Grover) Golden. A year after graduating from Excelsior Springs High School, Patty married Norman Edward Maddux on August 14, 1962, in Vibbard, MO. She attended Johnson Bible College and Ozark Bible College. After having three sons, Daniel, David and Stephen, the young family moved to Brazil, South America as missionaries in 1968. Later in Brazil Patty and Norman had two more children, Nathaniel and Angela.
Although Patty was a very devoted mother, she was involved in many aspects of ministry including, helping in the care of cleft palate children, writing Bible resources in Portuguese, accompanying Norman in many print shop projects. She taught, evangelized, and encouraged many women, young ladies, and children to follow God and place their trust in Jesus.
After serving in Brazil 35 years, Norman passed away and Patty courageously went after her childhood dream and received her LPN license at the age of 62. This prepared her for the years of teaching the women of northern Mozambique, Africa, and the mission trips into the bush churches from 2008 to 2012.
The remaining 10 years of her life she spent in the US with her daughter and family, Angela, Davi and Gracielle.
Patty is survived by four sons and a daughter: Daniel Lee (Melissa), Grandview, MO; David Gary (Jennifer), Broken Arrow, OK; Stephen Herald (Merilly), Branson, MO; Nathaniel “Nathan” Ray (Jennifer), Lakewood, CO; Angela Rose Siqueira (Davi), Sebring, FL. She also is survived by 13 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.
Visitation and services for Patty will be held at White Chapel Funeral Home on June 22, 2024, visitation 1:00 p.m. and service 2:00 p.m. Burial will follow at the cemetery behind Old Union Church, 17990 N Union, Lawson, Missouri, 64062.
