Rick was born on December 3rd, 1947, in Longmont, Colorado to Elaine and Harold Stockton. He graduated from Brighton High School in 1967 and earned an associate's degree in agriculture from Northeast Junior College in Sterling, Colorado. Rick worked for Denver Burglar Alarm prior to his 25-year career with Aurora Public Schools as an Electronics Technician, where he met Dianna Brady. Rick married Dianna in 2002 and moved to Brighton, Colorado.
His children remember him as a kind, gentle, patient father who encouraged them to pursue their goals. Rick thrived while engaging in passionate discussions about politics. Being a self-taught, lifelong student of military history, Rick loved to regale crowds about one battle or another. In 1984 he and his son joined Colorado Military Historians where he showcased his talent of painting pewter miniature soldiers, used in the hobby of military wargames.
Rick and Dianna relocated to Kansas City, Missouri in 2022 where he met the “Old Geezers” of Northland Church where they all shared tales and camaraderie over a cup of coffee.
Rick is survived by his wife, Dianna Stockton; son, Jeffrey (Lara) Stockton; daughters, Tonya (Jon) Blythe, Erica Brady (Tom Pawlowski), Jennifer (Curtis) Crane; and eleven wonderful grandchildren, Felix, Javan, Isaac, Aaron, Tiras, Elsie, Owen, Jackson, Landon, Kingston, and Matthew.
