Richard (Rick) Dean Sticken, age 66, passed away peacefully on June 8, 2024, after a short battle with cancer. He was born on May 27, 1958, in Kansas City, MO. He graduated from Northeast High School in 1976 and enlisted into the United States Marine Corps that same year.
Rick enjoyed his 12 years in the military but wanted to pursue a career in law enforcement. After he was honorably discharged, he started the process for the Kansas City Missouri Police Department. He was so proud of his 30+ years in law enforcement and retired with the rank of sergeant. He was also proud when his son followed in his footsteps, not only in the military but in law enforcement, as well as his love of scouting. Rick was blessed with a need to help people in their time of need. He always had a great sense of humor that he shared with everyone he met. His passion to collect GI Joes from his childhood to the little Marx play sets would drive his wife crazy but she loved seeing him play with them when his grandchildren came over. He loved his family deeply and loved to live his life to the fullest. Everyone that worked with him loved his antics and leadership, which brought admiration and respect from many that were around him.
Rick was proceeded in death by his parents, Donald and Ramona Sticken.
He is survived by his wife, Holly Sticken; son, Christopher (Brittney) Sticken; daughter, Kelly Nea; grandchildren; Teegan Sticken, Lilly Sticken, Zoey Sticken, and Conor Nea; sister, Carol (Richard) Dillon; brothers, Gary Sticken and Jon Sticken; several nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of His Life will be held on Saturday June 29, 2024; 11 AM, Fairview Christian Church, (1800 NE 65th St., Gladstone, MO 64118).
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Kansas City Hospice or the Kansas City Missouri Police Care Team.
