In 1941, Roderic married Zelma Melia in Dodge City, KS. Rod and Zelma graduated from Dodge City Jr. College and attended high school in Ford, KS. Rod was a WWII US Navy gunnery instructor.
Rod worked in agriculture his entire adult life as a county agent, a manager of multiple Cooperatives, a CCA district representative, and an educator at FarMarCo. Wherever he lived, Rod actively volunteered in the community and for the Presbyterian Church.
He is survived by daughters Sherry Maxwell, Michale Conway, and Cathy Ready; son Steve Simpson; 12 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by parents Clof and Flora Simpson, sister Ruth Koch, brother Stanley Simpson, wife Zelma Simpson, and son Roderic Dean Simpson.
