

Roger was born May 29, 1944 to Eleanor (Francis) and Elmer Britt in Smithville, Missouri. Roger graduated from Smithville High School in 1962 where he participated in sports and scouting, in which he obtained the rank of Eagle Scout. Roger went on to attend and graduate from Northwest Missouri State University in Maryville, Missouri, where he was a member of Phi Sigma Epsilon fraternity. It was at Northwest that he met his future wife, Sue, and they enjoyed a 57-year marriage.
Roger worked for Mobil Oil for 7 years and then began his 32-year career at Hallmark Cards. He retired in 2005. He was also a member of the Army Reserves, where he served as Company Commander in the 325th Hospital Unit.
Roger was a 55-year member of Hillside Christian Church where he attended the Learning Tree Sunday School class, and served as a Deacon and an Elder. He was honored with the title of Elder Emeritus after many years of service.
Roger enjoyed traveling with Sue to the Caribbean, Mexico, Europe, Alaska, and Hawaii, among other places. He loved his Missouri Tigers and watching his three adored grandchildren, Shea, Ryan and Noah Williams, in their sports and school activities.
He is predeceased by his parents, cousin Karen Hadley, and sister-in-law Joan Lehr. He is survived by his wife Sue at the home, his sister Linda (Bob) Lemon, his daughter Tracy (Jeff) Williams and their three children. He is also survived by his 2 nephews Michael (Sophie) Lemon, David (Hilary) Lemon, and several great nieces and nephews.
The service will be held on Saturday, March 14th, 2026 at 1:00pm at Hillside Christian Church, with visitation at noon. After the service, burial will be at White Chapel Funeral Home and Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Hillside Christian Church in Roger’s memory.
