

Ronald (Dean) Gromer passed away Wednesday, March 16, 2016, following a stroke, surrounded by his family that loved him dearly. Dean was born March 4, 1928, in DeKalb County Missouri to Basil C & Velma Gromer. He was raised by his father and step-mother, Gertrude Gromer. He was married to Maxine E. (Behse) Gromer who passed unexpectedly in 1982. He was also preceded in death by his parents and step-mother, his infant son, his daughter Debbie Jo Gross, and three grandchildren, Ronald David & Christy Jo Schaefer & Ronald Dean Hoppenthaler. He retired from General Motors, Fairfax in 1980 and was the owner of Gromer Rentals. He was a member of the Gladstone Area Chamber of Commerce, the Moose Lodge, and was a charter member of the Kansas City Northland Elks #2376. He was a longtime volunteer of the Northland Christmas Store, the Shepherds’ Center, and the annual Elks Scholarship Breakfast. Dean leaves behind to cherish his memory, daughter Terry (Joe) Hoppenthaler, son, Larry Gromer, 5 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandson. The family would like to thank Dean’s companion, Paula Degenhardt, and his Northland Elks Club family for all of their love and support. Services are as follows: Visitation will be Friday, March 18th, 9:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Services will begin at 11:30 with the Elks ritual for funeral services, followed by a Celebration of Life. Inurnment to follow at White Chapel Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Elks Scholarship Breakfast or Northland Christmas Store.
