Ronald David Mason, Jr., 26, of Liberty, Missouri, passed away on January 28, 2017. He was born on December 5, 1990 in Independence, Missouri, to Lora Kai (Manlove) Black and Ronald David Mason. He graduated from Liberty High School in 2009 and from Northwest Missouri State University in 2013. As a talented and smart young man, he was an entrepreneur and just beginning his career in home and commercial remodeling and repair. To write the facts of Junior’s life and death is not an easy thing to do. As Junior was the writer and storyteller of the family, telling his life story is difficult. Most of us knew him as Junior, ‘Mason’ to some, ‘David’ to others. But no matter there was no doubt about the kind of sincere man he was. Junior was a kind and genuine soul. He was intellectual and witty. He had an incredible ability to be youthful relating to his friends and the next minute become a patient and listening ear to his elders, especially his grandparents. The family often joked that he was no doubt the favorite grandchild. Junior went out of his way to spend time with and learn about the lives of his elders. He would often write and reflect on the many road trips he shared with them. There are so many stories left to write and tell, especially his. But his short story will forever remain in our hearts. Junior is survived by his mother Lora Black and stepfather Gerry Black of Kansas City, Missouri; father Ron Mason of Raymore, Missouri; brother Justin Bender of Raymore, Missouri; stepsisters Becky Riley of Liberty, Missouri, Rachel Black of Dearborn, Missouri and Sara Otte of Liberty, Missouri; nieces and nephews Alexis Murphy, Graeson Sullivan, Jax and Stella Riley. He also leaves his maternal grandparents Bob and Shirley Manlove of Kansas City, Missouri; paternal grandparents Linda and Ervin Keen of Independence, Missouri as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. His brother Bobby Mason, aunt Connie Soden, maternal grandmother Irma Linneman and paternal grandparents Paul and Claris Richardson precede him in death. The visitation will take place on February 2nd from 9:30-11:00 am with the funeral immediately following at Christ Lutheran Church. The processional will be to Terrace Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Junior’s name (Ronald ‘Junior’ Mason) to National Public Radio (NPR), Children’s Mercy Hospital or Christ Lutheran Church.
