Ruby L. Moore, age 88, of Kansas City, Missouri passed away on Thursday, May 26, 2022. Ruby was born January 11, 1934 in Stanley Indiana to Raymond and Mamey McDonald. She graduated from Lynnville High School. Ruby married Kenneth Moore in 1953. After moving to Scott Air Force Base in Illinois, Ruby and Ken welcomed their first daughter, Vickie. Thirteen years later, then living in Kansas City, they welcomed daughter, Dianna, to their family.
Her children and grandchildren remember her as an active mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She volunteered for her daughters' Camp Fire Girls troops and made mud pies and played Barbies with her granddaughters. She didn’t slow down when she had her great grandchildren and would play a game of catch whenever they asked. Ruby had a competitive spirit and played games with all of her family and friends and belonged to various card groups over the years. Her competitive spirit could also be seen when she was cheering on the Kanas City Royals and Chiefs. She was also an avid reader and researcher of family genealogy. When she wasn’t pursuing her hobbies, Ruby worked for the North Kansas City School District at Newmark School as a cafeteria worker for many years.
Ruby is preceded in death by her father and mother, Raymond and Mamey McDonald; her husband, Kenneth Moore; and sisters, Betty Weber and Shirley Scott.
Ruby is survived by her daughters, Vickie Davis and Dianna Moore, and her granddaughters, Kelly Davis and Shannon (James) Hodges. She is also survived by her great grandchildren Colin, Patrick, Christopher, and Piper Hodges.
In lieu of flowers, please send donations to NorthCare Hospice.
A Visitation for Ruby will be held Wednesday, June 1, 2022 from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm with a Celebration of Life at 2:00 pm, followed by a Graveside service, all at White Chapel Funeral Home 6600 NE Antioch Road, Gladstone, Missouri 64119.
