Susie Leota Carter Glasgow, 100, passed away peacefully January 5, 2016. Susie was born December 24, 1915, on a farm near Welda, Kansas to Jesse and Effie Carter. She was the youngest of thirteen children. Susie graduated from Lone Elm, KS High School where she was valedictorian. Soon after graduation, she met and married Gordon Glasgow, and they were married for 62 years. He preceded her in death in 1995. Susie worked as a proofreader at the Kansas City Star where she retired in 1977. For many years, she was an active member of the Independence Boulevard Christian Church and the Beau-Knot Club. Susie and Gordon had three children: Vance (Barbara) of Reeds Springs, MO; James, of Kansas City, MO; and Donna also of Kansas City, MO. Donna preceded her in death in 1999. She had two grandsons: Shawn (Sandy) and Todd (Kerrie), both of Kansas City, MO. She had six great-grandchildren: Trista, Lance, Aaron, Nathan, Shannon, and Cole; and two great-great grandchildren: Victoria and Christian. A visitation and service will be held at White Chapel Funeral Home, 6600 NE Antioch Road, Gladstone, MO on Saturday, January 9 at 8:00 a.m. The service will begin at 9 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations to: Independence Boulevard Christian Church or Gashland United Methodist Church both in Kansas City, MO
