Sylvia was born on September 13, 1937, in Birmingham, Missouri, to Thomas and Thelma Swigelson. She married the love of her life, Kenneth Mart Hevalow, on June 26, 1954, and they shared a beautiful journey together for nearly seven decades.
Sylvia graduated from Park Hill High School in 1955 and embarked on a life filled with various experiences and accomplishments. Alongside her husband, she co-founded K&S Construction Company in 1968 and served as Vice President.
As a mother of four children, Sylvia instilled in them the importance of a strong work ethic and a “you can do it yourself cheaper” attitude. Her children remember her as beautiful, elegant, feisty, and always forthright in expressing her thoughts and opinions.
Sylvia was a woman of many passions. She found joy in cross-stitching, floral arranging, flower gardening, cake decorating, exploring the world through cruises, and cooking her famous noodles. An avid collector of jewelry, antiques, and Longaberger baskets, Sylvia had an eye for beauty and cherished the memories associated with each unique piece.
Sylvia's vivacious spirit shone brightly during family dinners, fish frys, and the seasonal morel mushroom feasts. She was a member of the Platte Woods Luncheon Club, Platte Woods Garden Club, Parkville Garden Club, and her neighborhood Bunco group.
Sylvia is preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Thelma Swigelson, and one grandchild, Jennifer Ann Loy. She is survived by her devoted husband, Kenneth Hevalow, of Parkville, MO, her loving children: Thomas Hevalow (Robin) of Parkville, Brenda Loy of Parkville, Kevin Hevalow (Jennifer) of Smithville, and Ann Adkins (Randy) of Kearney.
