

Tommy was born January 14th, 1947, in St. Joseph, Missouri, to Dorothy (Wilson) and John Gannaway. He was the youngest of six children.
He met the love of his life, Carrie Lucille Wright, on a double date in 1964. They began their life together and married on April 30th, 1965. Tommy and Lucille were married 54 years.
They welcomed three amazing children; Tammy Lucille Gannaway, on February 7th, 1966; John William Gannaway on June 26th, 1968, and Jeanne DeAnn Gannaway on August 2nd, 1971.
Tommy started his career as a mechanic at Firestone when he was 17 years old. For many years he also worked on the farm they lived on; until Smithville took the land to build Smithville lake. He retired from Firestone after 35 faithful years of service. Tommy enjoyed hunting, fishing and working on cars. He always had a car he was working on.
Tommy is survived by his two sisters, Joyce Gensheer and Marilyn (James) Osborn both of Pittsburg, Missouri; children, Tammy Lucille Gannaway Ahnefeld, wife of Sean, Gladstone, Missouri, John William Gannaway, husband of Milissa, Cameron, Missouri, Jeanne DeAnn Cummins, wife of Brock Cummins, Joplin, Missouri. As well as grandchildren, Kyle Conner Krier and wife Amanda, Carlie Denae’ Parks, Madison Nicole Gannaway, John William Gannaway, Luke Heath Cummins and wife Mackenzie, Caleb Tommy Cummins and wife Kyndall, Nathan Ronald Cummins and wife Kaytlynn, Seth John Cummins and wife Berea, Aiden Clay Cummins, Lillian Grace Cummins; and three great grandsons ,Beckham Heath Cummins, Kairon Dominik Ferro, and Landon Scott Cummins. As well as several nieces and nephews.
Tommy was preceded in death by his wife, Carrie Lucille Gannaway; his parents, Dorothy Wilson McClung and John William Gannaway; brothers, Eugene Gannaway, Jackie Gannaway and sister, Nancy Gannaway.
Visitation will be at White Chapel Funeral Home, 6600 NE Antioch Road, Gladstone, Missouri, 64119, on Saturday, February 21, 2026, at 1:00 pm with a Celebration of Life at 2:00 pm.
