

Vernon W. Violett, 76, of Kansas City, MO, left his earthly home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, on October 31, 2015, at Kansas City Hospice House after a very short illness. He was born July 25, 1939 in Mayview, MO to William T. and Erma P. (Downing) Violett who preceded him in death. On September 27, 1959, he married his high school sweetheart Barbara Petering at the First Baptist Church in Warrensburg. Vernon was a graduate of Warrensburg High School Class of 1957. All who knew Vernon have realized his ongoing dedication helping to organize class reunions. His interests include being an avid fan and supporter of Warrensburg High School Basketball. Vernon enjoyed extensive traveling, community activities, retiree functions and visiting with family and friends. Vernon retired from Hallmark Cards after 40 years of service. He was an active member of Gracemor Christian Church in Kansas City, MO, as well as a group of senior citizens, known as the Thursday Night Out Group. Vernon is survived by sister, Frances (Violett) Sims of Lee’s Summit; brother, Virgil (Patty) of Lee’s Summit; brother-in-laws, Bill Rinne of Lee’s Summit and Jerry (Karen) Petering of Highland, KS; Sister-in-law, Debra (Bret) Kuss of Corbin, KY. As well as many friends and extended family who loved him. Vernon is preceded in death by his wife, Barbara; a sister, Lois Rinne; and a brother-in-law, Melvin Sims. Visitation will be November 6th from 1:00 to 2:30pm at White Chapel Funeral Home in Gladstone, MO, with a service to follow. On November 7th Visitation will be from 9:30 to 10:30am at Sweeney-Phillips and Holdren Funeral Home in Warrensburg, with a service to follow. Interment Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Warrensburg. Memorial Contributions are suggested to Gracemor Christian Church or Kansas City Hospice House.
