

William Paul Bauer, age 81, passed away peacefully on April 2, 2026, at NorthCare Hospice House in North Kansas City, Missouri. He was born on February 14, 1945, in Des Moines, Iowa, to Delbert and Rita Bauer, who preceded him in death.
William was also preceded in death by his beloved wife of 58 years, Roma Bauer, with whom he built a life full of love and cherished memories across Michigan and Iowa before making their final home in Kansas City, Missouri. He was further preceded in death by his son, Kevin Bauer, and his siblings John Bauer, Barbara Bauer, Vernon Bauer, Clarita Cunningham, Leanne Haines, and Guy Bauer.
He is survived by his brother, Delbert Bauer and wife Dottie; sons, Bill Bauer and wife Angie, and Shawn Bauer and wife Melanie; God-daughter, Jennifer Cairns; and cherished grandchildren, Nick Zils and wife Angela, Matt Zils and wife Michele, Daniel Zils and wife Tiffany, and Meghan Anderson and husband Joshua. William was also blessed with great-grandchildren: Erik Zils, Mattilyn Zils, Nicole Zils, Chloe Welch, Hossie Welch, Jeremiah Anderson, Susannah Anderson, Malachi Anderson, and Seth Anderson.
William dedicated 30 years of hard work to the Ford Motor Company and was a proud member of UAW Local 249. After retirement, he and Roma enjoyed working together for Jim Wagy at various McDonald’s locations in the Kansas City area.
William will be remembered most for his deep love for his wife and family. He found joy in the simple things—taking drives to nowhere in particular, creating diamond art, playing bingo and chicken foot, and attending family game nights. He also enjoyed reading, watching westerns, and cheering on the Kansas City Chiefs. His presence, humor, and love will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, April 11, 2026, from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM, followed by a Celebration of Life at 2:00 PM. The service will be livestreamed for those unable to attend. Following the service, William will be laid to rest next to his beloved wife Roma at the Garden of Nativity. All to be held at White Chapel Funeral Home and Cemetery, 6600 NE Antioch Road, Gladstone, Missouri.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that donations be made in William Paul Bauer’s name to NorthCare Hospice House.
