
Robert "Bob" Roy Henderson, of Portland, died on Wednesday, (August 18, 2010) at Middlesex Memorial Hospital. Bob was born Nov. 11, 1937, in Twin Falls, Idaho, to Floyd Henderson and Nellie (Anderson) Henderson. He grew up in Southern Idaho, graduating from Valley High School in Eden/Hazelton, and the University of Idaho, before coming to Connecticut to work for Pratt and Whitney Aircraft, where he enjoyed a 38-year career, retiring in 1999.
Bob is survived by his wife, Elizabeth "Betsy" Strong Henderson; and his daughters Amy Jarish and her husband, Michael, Emily Sperber and her husband, Timothy; and his grandchildren Gavyn, Owen, and Eleanor. He leaves his sisters Glenna DeLapp, Kay McBride, and Judy Bluemer, who live in Idaho, and many nieces and nephews. Bob was predeceased by his brothers Gordon and Nicholas.
Bob loved life, family, and friends, fishing, boating, and outdoor activities. Bob was loved by all who knew him for his generosity, and his kind and gentle nature. He will be greatly missed.
A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, August 25 at 2 p.m. at South Congregational Church in South Glastonbury. Memorial donations may be made to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, PO Box 4072, Pittsfield, MA 01202.
