Betty Jo "B.J." Gutierrez

Mrs. Betty Jo (McCann) Gutierrez passed away on Good Friday, April 6, 2012. Betty was born June 26, 1924 in Nevada, MO, the youngest of 13 children. She moved to Phoenix with her then husband Mac McCann in 1955. Betty raised two children and was a homemaker for much of her life. BJ loved her kids and family. Every birthday party was an event, and she enthusiastically got involved in Cub Scouts, Brownies, field trips, camping, hunting, and quarter-midget racing. Betty went back to work in 1967 and retired as a VP of Valley National Bank 24 years later. A creative and tireless worker, Betty earned the respect of all who knew her. Betty later married retired Air Force Major Eloy Gutierrez who passed away late last year. His children and grandchildren filled their lives with much love and laughter over the years. Betty sang nearly every day of her life. She was still singing hymns just days before her death. Betty had one grandchild (Sean) and 9 step grandchildren. She is survived by son Craig McCann of Penn Valley, CA, daughter Cindy (McCann) Schaider of Casa Grande, and stepchildren Martha Gutierrez, Marcie Hillan, Eloy Gutierrez ll (all of Phoenix) and Maria Stanford (Peyton, CO). While she will be missed, she is forever at peace with her Savior. Memorial Service will be held at West Resthaven Funeral Home, 6450 W Northern, Glendale, Friday, April 13, 2012 at 11:00 AM.
