

Bobby Stokes, born November 6, 1945, in Timpson, Texas, passed away on March 11, 2026, surrounded by the love and memories of his family. He was the son of the late Cecil Ivey Stokes and Connie Faye Stokes of Timpson, Texas.
Bobby proudly served his country in the United States Army after enlisting in 1966. During his three years of service, he worked as a postal clerk in the Army and was awarded the National Defense Service Medal in recognition of his dedication and service. After his time in the military, Bobby went to business college. After that, he went to work for the Texas Highway Department for 7 years.
He met Louise, the love of his life through a PenPal Club. When he decided to marry, Mary Louise Skaggs, on October 9, 1976 he moved to Arizona. Together they built a life rooted in love, service, and family.
Bobby worked for 17 years as a supply manager at Boswell Hospital and retired in 1993. After retiring, he supported his wife, Louise, by serving as a parent teacher’s aide until she retired. Known for his strong work ethic and kind spirit, Bobby was respected by coworkers, friends, and the many families whose lives he touched.
After getting married Bobby and Louise became foster parents for 25 years. They opened their home to more than 75 foster children over the years. Their compassion and commitment changed countless lives. Bobby and Louise adopted four beautiful daughters Alisha, Megan, Anna, and Beth. They also helped care for Penny, Tina, Elizabeth and many others who have continued to be present in their lives.
Bobby was a proud grandfather who was lovingly known as “Grandpa” or “Poppy” to many grandchildren who will forever cherish his wisdom, humor, and unconditional love.
He is survived by his loving wife, Mary Louise Stokes; his daughters Alisha, Megan, Anna, and Beth Stokes; his brothers Iven Ray Stokes and wife Betty of Timpson, Texas; Richard Stokes and wife Terri of Sherman, Texas; Eddie Stokes and wife Barbara of Bloomburg, Texas; and his sisters Nadine Beard and husband Roger of Mount Enterprise, Texas, and Gaynell Stokes of Arizona. He also leaves behind many grandchildren, extended family members, and friends who will miss him dearly.
Bobby’s life was defined by service to his country, his community, and most of all to the wife, children, and family he loved so deeply. His legacy of kindness, generosity, and devotion will live on in the many lives he touched.
Visitation will be held at Chapel of the Chimes Mortuary, 7924 North 59th Ave, Glendale, AZ 85301, US, on March 19, 2026, from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm, followed by the Funeral Service at the same location from 1:00 pm to 1:40 pm.
A Committal Service will take place at Resthaven Park Cemetery, 6450 West Northern Ave, Glendale, AZ 85301, US, on March 19, 2026, from 2:00 pm to 2:30 pm.
