She was born in Winslow Arizona on March 28, 1930 to Jim and Helen Doonan. She lived in Winslow until she met and married her husband Fred Bomkamp. They moved to Alton Illinois for a brief time but ended up moving back to Winslow where they spent most of the next 20 years then moved to Phoenix Arizona. While in Winslow Darleon raised her 2 children, Jim and Linda, at the same time owning a One-Stop shop where people could purchase a variety of things, from hunting and fishing supplies to food items to name a few things. She was also very involved in civic activities: PTA, Epsilon Sigma Alpha Sorority, Winslow Women's club, and was honored as Winslow Woman of the Year in 1968. Darleon and Fred were avid bowlers and were always participating in league play. Darleon also started and ran a junior bowling league for the Winslow kids. Darleon was very musically talented and sang with many bands in and around the Winslow area, especially the family band that she was in with Jim, Helen, and Fred. They played at many events in Northern Arizona, New Mexico, and Colorado. She had spent a year in California as a young girl training with some of the teachers that worked for the movie studios. After moving to Phoenix in 1976 she was very active in the Arizona Business Women’s Association and the Arizona realtors association. She earned her pilots license in 1976 and would fly with Fred on many of his trips. Some of her greatest memories were flying to Lake Powell with her family and friends to spend weekends on their boat. She loved it there.
