Dolores June Schooley, also known as June, passed away on September 2, 2025, at the age of 94. Born on June 19, 1931, in Akron, Ohio, June was an adventurous, hard-working, and kind-hearted woman who touched the lives of many.
June spent her early years in Akron and pursued higher education at Kent State and GCC. In July 1959, she relocated to Arizona, where she became a cherished member of the Glendale community.
June met her husband, Bob Schooley, through her brother Kenneth. Bob, a former Navy serviceman, and June were married on August 3, 1951, in Ohio. Together, they built a loving family, raising three sons: Richard Schooley (Linda Schooley), Donald Schooley (Patricia Schooley), and Larry Schooley. June was a devoted wife, a loving mother, and a wonderful homemaker.. June's nurturing spirit extended to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who affectionately called her Granny. She was always ready to help them, especially when they missed the bus, and cherished the time spent with them.
June had a passion for painting and crafting, and her family took great pride in her artistic talents. Her love for her country was evident in her patriotic spirit, as she ensured that her clubs recited the Pledge of Allegiance before each meeting. A devoted follower of her faith, June's life was guided by her beliefs.
Her commitment to community was unwavering. June served as president and secretary of the HOA alongside her husband, Bob. She was an active member of Community Policing, receiving an award for her contributions. Additionally, she participated in an organization that provided food for the community at her local clubhouse and was a proud Red Hat Lady.
June is survived by her sons Richard, Donald, and Larry, as well as her eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband Robert, her parents Geneva and Orlin Preston, and her brother Kenneth Preston (Gladys Preston).
June's legacy of love, dedication, and community service will be remembered by all who knew her.
