

Doris M. (Lindley) Nutter, 84, of Phoenix, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 20, 2011. She was born Oct. 20, 1926, in Parker, Ariz., to Furnice and Beryl Lindley. After settling in Prescott, Ariz., where she attended grade school and high school, she met her husband, John Nutter, at the Pine Cone Inn. They were married and traveled via the Navy to San Francisco and Japan before returning to Arizona and living in Phoenix for most of the years since 1959. In addition to being a stay-at-home mom for many years while her children were young, Doris worked as a secretary at the House of Representatives for many years. She has always been a loving mother, grandmother and dear friend to all who knew her. She will be missed by all. Doris was preceded in death by her husband, John; her parents, Furnice and Beryl Lindley; her brothers, Eugene and Kenneth D. Lindley; and sister, Alice Jones. She is survived by her three children: Kathy Blackman (Bill), Linda Leeds (Arlan) and Frank Nutter (Katy), as well as nine grandchildren, Danielle (Ian), Christopher, Brandon, Kevin, Kristyn, Beckilynn, Jennifer, Emilou and Bryceson. Doris is also survived by many nieces and nephews, all near and dear to her heart. Visitation will be Friday, April 29, 2011, from 6-8p.m. at the West Resthaven Chapel and Funeral Home, 6450 W. Northern Ave., Glendale, Ariz., with a celebration of Doris’ life Saturday, April 30th at 10 a.m. at the funeral home. Internment will be at West Resthaven Park Cemetery in Glendale immediately following the service. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to either Banner Alzheimer’s Institute, 901 E.
