

Our family is mourning the death of our father, Emmett Bowman, age 95, who passed away at his home on June 5, 2017. Emmett was born in Coyote Canyon, New Mexico for the Water Edge people clan and was born for the Towering House people clan. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II in the Aleutians and the European Theater. He was awarded the Purple Heart and Bronze Star Medal.
Emmett was married to our mother Emma for 69 years. They have four children: Arlene, Ruby, Nancy, and Jerry. Our father was preceded in death by his wife, Emma; his parents, Sam Bowman and Irene Mitchell Bowman; his brothers, Ellison Bowman, Dale Bowman, Danton Bowman, Emerson Bowman, Kenneth Bowman; and his sisters, Caroline Begay, Mary B. John, and Bertha Felland.
Survivors include his brothers, Peter Becenti, Sr. and J. Tonny Bowman; and his sisters Betty Dennison, Priscilla Becenti, Tillie Sutton, and Elsie Chase.
A visitation will take place Wednesday, June 14, 2017 at Chapel of the Chimes Mortuary from 5:00 - 7:00 pm with a funeral service the next morning June 15, at 10:00 am. Interment will immediately follow the service at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona.
Our father Emmett lived a long and fulfilling life. We will miss him dearly.
