Rick is survived by his beloved wife Jennifer, children Stephanie, Vincent and Leighann, grandchildren Sarah, Andrew and Avery, and one great grandson on that is on the way. He is also survived by his siblings Gwendolyn, Keith and Brian, multiple nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. Last but not least, Rick leaves behind his dogs Romeo, Shakespeare and Sadie.
In addition to his parents, Rick is preceded in death by his sister Brenda, children Tayler, and Tyler and grandchild Aries Michael.
Rick proudly served in the Vietnam War but was medically discharged due to Crohn’s disease which he battled throughout his life. His diagnosis of Crohn’s came when the discovery of the disease was in the early stages. He also battled prostate cancer and had frequent dialysis. Rick did not let these ailments deter him from living life to the fullest. He loved to ride his Harley whom he affectionately referred to as “My Girl”. Rick enjoyed frequenting places like In-N-Out Burger and Red Lobster. You could find him listening to or playing music, and found enjoyment in dancing. Those closest to him knew that Rick LOVED ice. He always had a cup of ice with him whether it was in the car or in bed. Sometimes he would even make his family stop at a gas station just to get some ice if the freezer and the countertop ice maker wasn’t keeping up with the demand. Rick enjoyed being around good people and found great comfort and love with his American Legion Family. Most of all, he chose to "be the one" to take great care and protect and love the ones he cared about the most.
Family and friends are invited to attend a memorial service for Rick at the American Legion Post 41 at 715 S. 2nd Avenue in Phoenix on Wednesday, May 22, 2024. Service will be held from 2:00 PM -6:00 PM with a rendering of military honors by the Luke Air Force Base Honor Guard beginning promptly at 2:30 PM.
