On November 16, 1932, in a small farmhouse in Vinita, Oklahoma, a beautiful boy was born to Forest and Agnes Johnson. He grew up in Hamilton, MO. He attended Penney High School, graduating in 1951. While there, he was active in sports, such as basketball, baseball and in football he was the team’s quarterback.
A United States Veteran, Frank followed his older brothers and enlisted in the Air Force at 18 years of age. He valued his service to his country and attained the rank of Airman First Class. During his time in Korea, he served as a medic. When he returned to the states, he was stationed at Luke Air Force Base. He was honorably discharged in 1956. Frank met Carol in 1954 at Glendale Church of the Nazarene in Glendale, AZ. They were married in this church on July 9, 1954 & had a long and happy marriage of almost 70 years. While living in Glendale they raised their three daughters, Gayle, Glenda, and Julie. The Johnson family were very active members of the Glendale Nazarene Church. Frank served in the church in various capacities and through the church, he and Carol made many lifelong friends.
Frank worked for several companies as a delivery truck driver. He drove for Pepsi, Coca-Cola, and Frito Lay. After he retired, he took a part time job at the Auto Auction where he worked well into his 80s. When he and Carol retired and their kids were grown and gone, they moved to Sun City, AZ; again, taking an active part in the Sun City Nazarene Church. They lived in Sun City for 20 years. In 2020, just after the lock-down from Covid, they moved to Mesa, AZ where they finished their remaining years.
Frank was known for his subtle sense of humor, his kindness, & his welcoming spirit. He loved his family, friends, and above all else, his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. His faith was deep and abiding. Frank went to heaven on May 5, 2025, at the age of 92. He’s with the Lord now and reunited with Carol. We will miss him greatly but are comforted by the fact that we will see him someday in heaven.
A Memorial Service with Military Honors will be held at 2pm on Saturday, June 7, 2025, at Chapel of the Chimes 7924 N. 59th Ave. Glendale, Arizona with a reception to follow.
“Let not your hears be troubled. Believe in God, believe also in me. My Father’s house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am.” John 14:1
