

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Master Gunnery Sergeant Frederick Alvin Moses-Prospere Jr, a man of unwavering honor, dedication, and love, who departed this life on December 21, 2024, at the age of 86. Surrounded by his devoted family, he left a legacy that will endure in the hearts of all who knew him.
Born on October 15, 1938, in Calidonia, Panama, Frederick Alvin Moses-Prospere Jr was drafted in 1963 from an early age. That calling, led him to serve his country with distinction as a United States Marine. Over a career spanning 30 years, he rose through the ranks to achieve the prestigious title of Master Gunnery Sergeant, a rank that reflected his exemplary leadership, expertise, and commitment to his comrades and mission.. He served in many places including, Camp Lejeune NC, Camp Pendleton CA, FT. Leavenworth, Marbks Gaum MI, MB San Diego, CA, and San Francisco, CA.
Throughout his military career, Frederick Alvin Moses-Prospere Jr was honored with numerous accolades for his service, including Meritorious Unit Commendation, Good Conduct Medal 9th Award, Navy Achievement Medal, National Achievement Medal, Letter of Appreciation, National Defense Service Medal, Over Seas Ribbon. Yet, beyond the medals and accomplishments, he was most admired for his humility, mentorship, and the steadfast example he set for others.
Outside the uniform, Frederick Alvin Moses-Prospere Jr was a devoted husband to his first spouse, Linda Jean Johnson, with whom he shared 10 years of marriage filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories. Together, they raised 4 children: Alexander & Alexandra, Frederick Alvin II, and Kimi Irene. He was remarried in Philadelphia in 1983 to 2015 to Ivy Rosita Elena Chavers, who together raised Kimi Irene and Veruschka Lynn. Teaching them the values of integrity, resilience, and compassion. To his grandchildren and extended family, he was a pillar of wisdom, love, and strength—a man whose warm smile could brighten any room.
Frederick Alvin Moses-Prospere Jr had a deep appreciation for life beyond his service. He enjoyed Collecting Stamps, Coins, Cars and he found joy in sharing these passions with those he loved. His community benefited from his kindness and generosity, as he was always willing to lend a helping hand or an encouraging word.
Master Gunnery Sergeant Fredrick Alvin Moses-Prospere Jr will be remembered not only as a hero who served his country but as a great man who served his family and community with equal devotion. His spirit lives on in the hearts of those who loved him, and his legacy of courage and love will continue to inspire for generations.
