Jackie Dean Newman

Jackie Dean Newman passed away October 8th, 2014 in Phoenix, Arizona. He was born in Tyler, Texas on May 5th, 1931. After football season in his senior year of high school he joined the United States Air Force. He proudly served his country for 22 years. He retired as a tech sergeant. July 1952 he met the woman of his dreams, Ms. Rita Rawls. 7 days later they were married. After 60 years of marriage their love remained as true and strong as the first day they met. Together they had 3 girls and 1 boy. Jackie Dean was a wonderful person and a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and great-great grandfather. He was very much loved and will be missed greatly. He is survived by his children Sherrell Newman, Janet Bridges and spouse Bill, Deborah Powell and spouse Sam, and son Daniel. He is also survived by 8 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild. He was preceded in death by his loving wife Rita, brother Larry, sisters Yvonne and Sharon, and grandchild Nolan.

Visitation will be held at Green Acres Glendale Mortuary 5830 W Missouri Ave. Glendale, Arizona 85301 on Monday, October 13th from 5:00-8:00pm. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, October 14 at 10:30am in the Green Acres Glendale Mortuary chapel. Interment will follow at the National Cemetery of Arizona.
