James L. Austin

He was born on June 7, 1930 in Detroit, Michigan to the late Lawrence and Josephine Austin.

Jim married Dorothy L. Doyle on June 27, 1953. They shared 57 years of marriage prior to her passing on May 20, 2011.

He served with the United States Marine Corps, stationed at Camp Lejeune, North Carolina.

Jim worked as a carpenter and construction superintendent in Detroit, Michigan and Phoenix, Arizona area for many years.

He is survived by five children Robert (Marla) Austin, Jeannette Austin, Diane Coté, Gary (Lori) Austin & Karen (Steven) Barton, two sisters Rheta Canepa and Shirley (James) Grobbel, and six grandchildren Austin, Hannah, Trevor, Aaron, Maxwell, and Nathan.

In addition to his parents and wife, Jim was preceded in death by his brother Donald (Rita) Austin, brother-in-law Sam Canepa, and son-in-law Rome Coté.

A memorial mass will be celebrated on Monday, October 25, 2021 at 11AM at St. Jerome Catholic Church, 10815 N. 35th Avenue, Phoenix, AZ. Burial with military honors will follow at Holy Redeemer Catholic Cemetery, 23015 N. Cave Creek Road, Phoenix, AZ.
