Jane Dale Bachmann (Crompton) age 82, peacefully passed away at home in the presence of family on April 2, 2023. George and Dorothy Crompton of Randolph MA were her parents. Jane grew up with siblings Kenneth, George and Ellen in a small New England town, Randolph, Massachusetts enjoying the beautiful four seasons and a wonderful outdoor life. Jane leaves her beloved family, husband John, daughter Lisa, and grandsons Zach and Sam. Sister Ellen of Acton, Massachusetts, brother George (Debbie) of Halifax Massachusetts and deceased brother Ken Longueil of Bridgewater, Massachusetts. Also nephews and nieces in Massachusetts.
Jane was a graduate and valedictorian of Randolph High 1958 and a Chandler School for Women graduate 1959. Jane and John met as coworkers at Honeywell, married in 1969, and daughter Lisa was born in 1972.
Jane and Jane and John relocated to Phoenix in 1975 with John’s job transfer from Honeywell. Living in Arizona has given them an interesting life, exploring Arizona, being involved in Lisa’s youth sports and soccer. Lisa’s soccer led Jane and John to the joy of becoming runners. Jane and John loved competing in road races and marathons and became Arizona Road Racers members.
In 1987 Jane graduated with an AA degree in General Studies. This goes along with her love of reading and research.
After 20 years with Honeywell Aerospace Jane retired from technical editing and became interested in community affairs. For animal advocacy, Jane became acquainted with Beverly Moore who is a force and supporter of the homeless cat population and the Animal Defense League TNR program.
Jane’s community activism has mainly involved keeping nearby Glen Lakes Golf Course, a beautiful green oasis near her home of 40 years. Jane took all her dogs on their walks by this beautiful open space. Jane and neighbor and friend Jean Merkel Co-Founded the Save Glen Lakes group. Later Phil Erickson, Fred Beyer and Jack Martino joined them. Awareness was made of the golf course at risk to be sold. Thousands of supporters fought to keep Glen Lakes. People of all levels were supporters like Bart Turner, Lisa Baker, Ron Short, Sam McConnell, Kelly Carbello, Cheryl Kappes and many others. Despite those efforts by many residents, the city of Glendale sold Glen Lakes to a builder. However, three years later the demolished golf course still remains empty of any homes.
Jane was introduced to St John’s Lutheran Church and Pastor Perry. Jane enjoyed the Christian fellowship there.
Jane leaves behind beloved husband John, who had a rewarding career as technical instructor for Honeywell. He traveled the world, interfacing with other cultures.
Jane will miss her most precious daughter and friend, Lisa, of whom she so values. Jane’s proud of Lisa and Tom for guiding and raising their sons to be outstanding young men and student/athletes, instilling in them family values. Tom’s expertise and background in sports has contributed to their successful sports experience. Grandsons, Sam, a Senior at Brophy College Preparatory and Zachary of the University of Arizona. They all had fun times attending the baseball tournaments in historic Cooperstown NY. For years bowling with the grandsons was a weekly event. Great memories were made reflecting on those times.
